ULTI is a trick-taking game from Hungary. It is said to be the “national game”; nonetheless it’s almost completely unknown outside of Hungary. Evidently the first written description in English was by John MacLeod in 1976. As befits a national game, there’s an extensive bibliography of strategy and history resources in Hungarian; I can find essentially nothing written in English.

I’ll try to document as much as possible as I learn through playing the game and talking with more experienced informants. Chief among the latter is Róbert Kovács, who also provided guidance for English speakers on how use the slightly bewildering http://www.ultistars.hu/.
